Do you like reading in games?

I personally hate when there is lot's of text in games. Reading is not my thing. My philosophy is that, I am playing a game so I want to visually and interactively see the story and not read it. For reading I would go for books and not spend 1000$ on a gaming computer or console. I see many games that do not have voice overs due budget or constraints so the instead opt for subtitles like JRPG style. Then there are lore items such as letters, books, documents and such in-game that tell you more about the story and world of the game. Lastly one of the most that I hate is textual tutorials. Which one the reading you prefer in game? Dialogues or Lore items? Or you prefer reading none like me? I am asking because I am developing my game and I do have made many games in past but this is my first game that is going to have dialogues and lore. Now I don't have budget to get voiceovers or to add extra more missions in game to flesh out my world. So I won't know know what players by general hate the most so I can know where to cut corners and where to invest. Also my game is a 3rd person shooter, souls-like. submitted by /u/sanketvaria29 [link] [comments]
