How do I make soft fluffy burger buns that aren't dense?

I've been testing different hamburger bun recipe's and i've been struggling to make a soft light bun that can be used for hamburgers/hotdogs/sandwiches. I haven't tried brioche buns yet as they take way too much butter but my goal is to make a simple bun that's as soft as the standard commercial hamburger buns that you can find in the grocery store bread isle. .
