Question about using cornstarch or gravy as a thickener for gravy

Hi all A questions just came to mind as i was making notes for an adaptation to a recipe It is for a pot roast, and I am adding a bit of milk or cream to the gravy. I am also adding a cornstarch or flour slurry to thicken it.
