Something rather interesting is happening in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community. A new game and two big mods have blown up in popularity recently.

These two mods are Anomaly and Escape from Pripyat. Both are technically mod packs but for the sake of ease they're usually regarded as just being two mods for the game. No game on this earth has a more dedicated war between the die-hard purists and the modders. The ones that do agree however have stumbled across something massively impressive. Rather than wait it out for the developers, the community itself started making its own game out of the last game in the series. Anomaly contains nearly every map from the entire original trilogy. It very well may contain every single map but I can't be that absolute. The entirety of the zone and the surrounding areas are open to you. In addition to this, squads have increased in number, factions can go just about anywhere they can survive to be. Firefights can last as long as there are people in the zone to fight in them. I've even seen up to thirty to forty different NPC's all warring around parts of the map. The difficulty has been spiked to realistic levels. Bullets act like bullets. You'll die if you take two or three without armor. So will the enemy. Everyone has the same odds. EFP adds even more depth with limb damage needing repair via either sleep or meds, filling and managing your own magazines for your guns as well as adding a good 30 more to the game and overhauling the entire economy of the trading system. That makes scavenging feel like scavenging and the profession trickier. There's an ironman mode where you're given lives based on timed allowances. There's a warfare mode where faction squads will be more apt to crossing borders and causing problems. There's a horde mode that ups the monster count and urges them to storm bases. It goes on...and on... and on. I suggest it to anyone that is bored of the same old same old. It's a realistic FPS on the surface. Only... On the surface. I haven't been in intense firefights in a game with consequences this great in well, ever. I can't think of a more tense FPS. Cheesing and cheating have been cut down immensely. This shit will challenge you. It's a breath of fresh air in a void. If you're bored and want a challenge. Come visit us. /r/stalker submitted by /u/FartsMusically [link] [comments]
